My Role as a Funeral Celebrant

I am an independent funeral celebrant, supporting families primarily across Denbighshire and Conwy to create ceremonies that are personal, meaningful, and true to the life being honoured. I am happy to travel further afield where needed; services outside these two counties may be subject to an additional charge, which will always be discussed clearly in advance.

My work is shaped by many years of professional experience supporting people through change, loss, and later life, alongside a strong belief in the importance of listening carefully and taking time to understand what truly matters to each family.

I lead funeral services, memorials, and celebrations of life, offering ceremonies that may be traditional, informal, spiritual, non-religious, or a thoughtful blend. Every service is guided by the wishes of the family and centred on the person being remembered.

Taking Time to Listen

I will visit you in your own home, or another place that feels comfortable for you, to spend time talking and listening. Together, we will reflect on the life of the person who has died — their personality, values, relationships, and the moments that mattered most.

These conversations are unhurried and led by you. Some families come with clear ideas, while others need space and gentle guidance. There is no right or wrong way to do this — my role is to walk alongside you and help shape a ceremony that feels right for your family.

Creating a Personal Ceremony

Using what you share, I will carefully write a ceremony that reflects the individual honestly and respectfully. This may include:

  • A tribute or life story

  • Music choices

  • Poems, readings, or personal words

  • Opportunities for family or friends to be involved, if wished

Every ceremony is unique. Whether you are planning a funeral, memorial, or celebration of life, the service will be shaped around the person being honoured and the people who loved them.

Working Alongside the Funeral Director

I work closely with your chosen funeral director to ensure the ceremony is well organised and runs smoothly. Clear communication and collaboration help create a calm, supportive experience, allowing you to focus on remembering your loved one without added worry.

On the Day

On the day of the ceremony, I will lead the service with care, calmness, and compassion, ensuring everything flows smoothly and that the space is held respectfully for everyone present. My aim is to create a ceremony where people feel able to remember, reflect, and say goodbye in a way that feels meaningful to them.

After the Ceremony

I will provide you with a copy of the ceremony script in a presentation-style format, which many families find helpful to keep and revisit. While I do not produce or print orders of service, I am happy to work alongside the funeral director to ensure the ceremony content is clearly shared and understood.

A Values-Led Approach

My work as a funeral celebrant is underpinned by a background in counselling and many years of supporting older people and their families through complex and sensitive times. Dignity, respect, compassion, and listening without judgement are at the heart of everything I do.

Above all, my role is to support you — to help create a ceremony that honours a life honestly, and to ensure you feel heard, supported, and cared for throughout the process.

If you would like to talk or ask questions, you are very welcome to get in touch for an informal conversation.
